What’s a place you visited that felt like home?
It’s not so often that I show up at a place that “just clicks”.
I’ve been semi-passively interested in archery for many years. My bow was a birth-mas gift that was shot once and then proceeded to collect dust.
It went to Pennsic with me last year (2025) and it got some more play time. Not much. Then it went to another SCA event in October. I was thrilled to just hit the target space. No points, I jut hit the backdrop.
Cleary, not a natural Robin Hood. Haha!
But somewhere along the way, somebody told me about Grimmsfield.
After enough Facebook searches, I did find it. Took a minute.
Spring came around and “work day” popped as an event. I figured I’d show up, help out, meet some folks. The bow stayed at home.
I put the address into Waze and off I went.
The deja vu was insane for the entire drive. No joke.
I knew I had kinda found my people in the SCA, but the folks at Grimm’s really sealed the deal.
Yeah, Daisy and Willy still bark at me sometimes. It’s probably because I don’t show up to shoot every week.
And yes, I can hit the target now. A little better 😝
