What’s a movie or book that inspired you to travel?
I cannot lie, I pick up books based on the cover all the time.
Imajica, yes. The Wheel of Time series, yes. And lastly, Wilbur Smith’s River God, huge yes.
It was gold, it had a super cool cut-out cover. And the paper it was printed on…. <sigh> it had that super smooth, sexy feel. Come on, you know what I mean.
Ancient Egypt has always pulled me. So this book, I was right in.
I did finally make it to Egypt. Rode a camel. Got to go-in to the middle pyramid. Yes, I touched it. Wasn’t supposed to. But I did. Barely. Tips only.
It was an amazing trip. One of those once in a lifetime experiences. I took so many pictures.
Was it anything like the book? Not really? Ancient Egypt vs the 2000’s? But still…. So wow.
