We are Her creatures, too

1–2 minutes

What’s a lesson you’ve learned recently that shifted your perspective?

This is one of those “I knew it, conceptually” but didn’t really feel it.

Just got back from a scuba trip in the Caribbean. I hadn’t been diving in over 20 years and didn’t know what to expect. But as soon as I got down into the water and pretty-ok buoyancy hit, I felt completely at home. It was like the ocean was just holding me gently like one of her children.

We aren’t apart from nature, we 100% exist within it.

The whole trip felt like that. Snorkeling back at the hotel, I felt completely at ease just floating along the surface of the water, checking out the sea life that continued on below me. Parrot fish munching on the coral. The stingray and his companion cleaner fish skirting along the sandy sea floor.

It was amazing.
