What makes a teacher great?
A great teacher understands that not all students have the same needs.
It’s the same as being a parent. I couldn’t raise all of my children as of they were copies of me or duplicates of each other. They are all very different individuals.
Students come from a multitude of backgrounds. Different family structures, different past experiences in the classroom. They aren’t going to enter the workforce doing the same things either.
I dislike standardized testing as well. “Look, our students have learned to pass these tests, please give us funding” benefits the students not at all.
Public education was not kind to me for the most part. I had a small handful of really great teachers. The rest seemed just bitter and burnt out. Probably tired of being underpaid and overworked. But you kind of need to know that’s education, going in.
Make it fun, make it engaging, make them feel like they matter. Those things male good teachers.
