What personal belongings do you hold most dear?
I want to say that my Stephen King collection ranks at the top. I guess that if we are talking about physical items, it does. Most of the books were gifted, first edition hardbacks. Not a small gift.
But the most dear?
Those would be memories.
They don’t need a box, or shipping or storage. They all fit right up between left and right. Even the bad ones.
We are all perception anyways. Who’s to say those memories can’t be relived (to an extent) as often as needed.
Family that has passed, or chooses to remain distant. Far away friends. Pets that have passes on.
They are all right there.
They are also the building blocks of us now.
Interested to do a retrospect? You built your bow based on the memories that live in your head. It has to be yours, you don’t have folders permissions for anybody else’s.
🤪
But seriously. Life is too short and uncertain to dwell on the shitty ones. If you want to be a jerk, hold on to the shitty memories and treat people accordingly. Your choice.
