If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?
Except for the dead ones, the language that we use right now is always being modified and changed for current use. Is English a dumpster fire? Is it a conglomeration of just about everything? Yes. It may have main roots in Latin, Greek and German, but “yeet”? Hello? Where did that actually come from? It’s a now-speak that the young people have coined.
I had to look it up because my kids wouldn’t tell me.
It’s human nature that dictates that the banned, the forboden, is often the most sought out. Why would I purposely forbid a word? It would start showing up everywhere en masse.
Maybe “love” should be the forbidden word. People might use it more?
