My dad

1–2 minutes

Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.

It started pretty OK. I honestly don’t remember when he first showed up in my life. Most kids of divorced parents have it like that. But I was pretty young and don’t remember my parents being together either, so there is that.

Looking back, he did all of the dad things. Went to all of my school functions, my choir performances, plays, graduations. He was there taking pictures, showing support. My weddings. The births of my children.

All the dad things.

The most impactful thing, aside from always showing up (which is still pretty big) is that he got me. He was one of the few people to see me. We shared hobbies and the view through a lens that a lot of folks don’t have.

I miss him a lot.
