What skills or lessons have you learned recently?
Little over a month ago, I got the wild hair (haha) to learn how to do a Victorian style hair… thing. So I went to YouTube. That’s where we all go, right?
First video was not bad. Not great as I don’t remember the gal’s name. The second video, however, started me down the rabbit hole of Bernadette Banner.
To say little, my sewing machine is back out. I now openly scowl at fast fashion. I’m sleeping at least one night a week in pin curls. And I now gauge pocket sizes in “pigs”.
If you haven’t seen her, check her out. She’s hilarious, and really informative.
The new thing: Hand sewing. It’s never been my thing. It’s slow, tedious and, did I mention slow? But it is surprisingly rewarding. I have a decent back stitch now and I do know various types of seam by name, procedure and sight. Who says you can’t teach an old gal new tricks?
The library is about done on its recent upgrade. I’m very pleased with how it has turned out. 😊
