The first time

1–2 minutes

When asked about my first defining moment, I take a trip in the WayBack machine to Christmas Eve at my Aunt’s house. When I was a young kiddo, my parents shuffled me back and forth. I didn’t think it was a big deal. I’d get two Christmases, etc. so this particular Christmas, I was maybe 6 years old? I received a portable tape player (yeah, I’m that old) and a few cassettes. One was a hits by Michael Jackson (The Ben years, so again… that old). The second was Victory by the Jacksons.

In went the tape with the flashy cover.

The first song to come pumping through those little foamy headphones was Torture. Holy jebus…. When I first heard him, I was hooked. Music was official amazing. No going back. I have been in love with music ever since. I still love you, MJ!

That is my first defining moment. If you haven’t heard it, play it. With headphones. It’s so much. Still incredible, even for the 80’s. I have the vinyl as well, but the record player isn’t currently plugged in. It’s a project for another day.
