Lookin’ at a thing in a bag

1–2 minutes

Not really. I’m lookin at a thing in my email in-box. And yes, I am a fan of Strongbad and his email. Wha, wha, the email.

Context: I’m sitting at the kitchen island on a fine Sunday morning, this past Sunday morning actually, and I’m getting ready to open the Alexa shopping list. It’s a thing we do on Sunday mornings; we go through the dinner plans for the week and add to the shopping list as necessary. The end goal is to make it to the grocery store and out before the church crowd gets out. M.P is a very Catholic community. That information should suffice.

I notice that in my in-box there is an email titled “Acceptance”. Holy crap. <Strong Mad> Holy Crap!!!

They have accepted my short story, “Something About a Diner”. They, being Dark Horses Magazine.

I’m still stoked. If I wasn’t sitting down, I would be doing the Toothless happy dance. Google it. Super cute! No, I haven’t quit my day job. Tempted. But I have downgraded it to my side hustle, because, hey, I’m an author. That is my profession. Shhh, go with it.

I am looking forward to the December edition, available through Amazon as an e-copy or as a hard-copy. There will be links. And probably many more links. And some links on Facebook. And probably those other social media things. But can you blame me? As an independent author, I’m supposed to shamelessly promote myself. It’s hard. But I’m trying.

Be safe and be well!
