Chapter 48

1–2 minutes

It’s different to read a book to entertainment than it is to read a book to learn from it. Ask any student who is told they must read a book so they can pass a test on their knowledge of the book’s contents. They know they need to read carefully, word for almost every word. No skipping ahead to the dialogue or to the next chapter to discover what happens to their most favorite, or least favorite characters.

Guilty. I’ve done both.

If you’ve been keeping up, I’m currently reading “The Name of the Wind”. And, if you are reading carefully, I just finished chapter 48. Three pages of exceptional prose in the main story, not one of the nested stories, that describe a pause. Three pages of pause! I sincerely hope that one day my ability to wield words can achieve that mastery so well!

Stay safe and be well!
